Miami International Airport offers free, airport-wide Wi-Fi, so you can get online while you wait, find your gate or book a ride. The network is called MIA-WiFi, there is no password for the free tier, and most travellers are connected in under a minute. Here is how it works, what it costs, and how to fix it if the sign-in page will not load. Current for 2026.

How to connect

  1. Open the wireless settings on your phone or laptop and choose MIA-WiFi.
  2. Open any web page. A welcome (sign-in) page should appear automatically.
  3. Accept the terms and watch a short advert — your connection is then live. No account is required for the free tier.

If the sign-in page does not load

Sometimes the welcome screen fails to appear, usually because your browser is trying to reach a secure (https) site that the login portal cannot intercept. If that happens, type a plain, non-secure address such as neverssl.com into your browser, or tap the "Sign in to network" notification on your phone. Switching wireless off and on again, or forgetting the network and rejoining, clears most of the remaining sign-in problems.

Free versus paid

The complimentary connection is funded by short adverts and is fine for everyday use — messaging, email, maps, social media, and booking a taxi or rideshare. Travellers who want an uninterrupted, advert-free session for video calls or larger downloads can upgrade: a standard pass costs $4.95 and a faster premium pass $7.95. The whole service is operated by Boingo, whose support line is printed on the welcome page.

Staying safe on public Wi-Fi

An airport network is shared and open, so treat it as you would any public hotspot. Stick to sites that show the padlock (https), avoid entering bank or card details unless you have to, and use a VPN for anything sensitive. For quick travel tasks — checking a boarding pass, messaging, or pulling up a map — the free connection is perfectly safe.

Where it reaches

Coverage extends across all indoor public areas: the main terminal, the departure concourses in the North, Central and South Terminals, baggage claim, and the on-site Miami International Airport Hotel. For how the concourses fit together, see our Miami airport terminals guide.
