Trains from and to Miami Airport
The Miami Airport train links into the wider city and beyond through two networks: Metrorail and Tri-Rail. MIA has no platform inside the terminals, yet it ties straight into Miami Central Station (MCS), the main hub of the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC). That connection makes rail one of the most popular ways to get around for anyone after fast, dependable, low-cost transport.
Miami Airport Metrorail
The Orange Metrorail Line pulls out of Miami Central Station and calls at Allapattah, Santa Clara, Historic Overtown, Government Center, Brickell, University, and South Miami. Riders bound for Brownsville, Hialeah, or the Palmetto area switch to the Green Line at Earlington Heights Station, the first stop past Miami International Airport.
For the run from the airport into downtown Miami and most of the city's sights, the Orange Line is the handy choice, while the Green Line mostly covers the northern neighbourhoods.
Our Tip: Free Wi-Fi comes as standard onboard Metrorail trains.
The Schedule of the Metrorail
Both lines run daily from 05:00 am to midnight. How often they come, though, varies:
* Weekdays: every 10 to 15 minutes (every 30 minutes from 08:00 pm to 12:00 am)
* Saturdays & Sundays:
* Green Line: every 30 minutes
* Orange Line: every 15 minutes
Bear in mind that at weekends the Orange Line works only between Miami Intermodal Center and Earlington Heights Station.
Miami Airport Tri-Rail
Tri-Rail is the commuter service tying together Miami-Dade County, Broward County, and Palm Beach County. It is also the line that joins Miami International Airport with Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport. Tri-Rail trains set off from Miami Central Station too.
The Schedule of the Tri-Rail
* Weekdays: 04:15 am to 09:40 pm
* Frequency: every 20 to 30 minutes at peak, every 40 to 60 minutes off-peak
* Weekends: 05:17 am to 09:42 pm
* Frequency: every 60 minutes
Where Is the Railway Station at Miami Airport?
There is no train station inside the terminals. Instead, Miami Central Station stands about 1 mile (1.6 km) from them.
Bridging that gap is the airport's automated people mover, the MIA Mover, which shuttles directly between the terminals and the railway station. It operates 24/7, costs nothing, and reaches Miami Central Station in about 4 minutes.
