The Lufthansa terminal at Miami Airport (MIA) is the South Terminal (Concourse J). Lufthansa departures and arrivals use Concourse J, so check-in, security and gates are on the South Terminal side. Concourse J is a newer standalone concourse in the South Terminal, built to handle the Airbus A380. This guide gets you through it fast. Current for 2026.

Check-in and bag drop

Check in for Lufthansa on Level 2 (Departures) of the South Terminal, where you will find counters, self-service kiosks and bag drop. As a rule of thumb, arrive about 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one.

Gates and Concourse J

Lufthansa uses Concourse J in the South Terminal. Not all of MIA's concourses are connected after security, so a transfer from one concourse to another can mean leaving the secure area and clearing security again. Allow extra time and follow the airport signage. Concourse J is a separate, newer concourse in the South Terminal with its own check-in and security.

Arrivals and baggage claim

Lufthansa arrivals come into Concourse J. International arrivals clear passport control and customs (Federal Inspection) first, then collect bags at the baggage claim; domestic arrivals go straight to the carousels. Rideshare, taxis and the free MIA Mover to the rental car center and Metrorail are reached from the arrivals level.

Lounges

For lounges you can use near Concourse J, including pay-per-visit options, see our Miami airport lounges guide.

Getting to and around the South Terminal

Coming from the Miami Intermodal Center (rental cars and Metrorail), take the free MIA Mover to the terminal, then follow signs to the South Terminal and Concourse J. For the full layout and how the concourses connect, see our Miami airport terminals guide and Miami Airport guide.
